Bike Lock Comparison Table

Last Updated on January 15, 2024 0 Comments

In the table below, you will find a list of bike locks that are (or have, at one time, been) rated Sold Secure Silver or higher.

So that means:

  1. Powered Cycle Diamond
  2. Powered Cycle Gold & Pedal Cycle Diamond
  3. Pedal Cycle Gold
  4. Pedal Cycle Silver

For those locks without a rating in the table, it’s usually that they haven’t been resubmitted for testing by the manufacturer. However, it can also sometimes be that their rating has dropped lower (in which case I add the new one).

As with the tables on the individual Sold Secure pages, you can compare the weights and dimensions of different u-locks, chain locks, folding locks and cable locks! I find the weights a bit hard to imagine, so I have also converted them into a handy “number of cans of coke” weight to make it easier!

The filters and search at the top of the table should help make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

With the wider format on this page, I am also able to add some additional data, such as the lock’s in-house ratings and ART rating (another independent testing organization). This makes more nuanced security comparisons possible.

If you click on some of the names of the locks in the table, you’ll be taken to Amazon or other websites, where you can further compare prices and reviews. Some of these are affiliate links.

I've had bikes stolen in London, New York and Barcelona. Yep, I was a serial, international, bike theft victim. In 2015 I decided to stop the rot. And not a single bike's been stolen since! Brakes, yes. Bells, yes. But they're another story. Everything I learn, I document on this website. More about my story. Contact me. LinkedIn.
